COLUMBUS–Led by two top 20 finishers, Independence finished in fifth place at the 2020 OHSAA Division II Girls’ Golf Championships on the Gray Course at Ohio State University.
The Blue Devils, who won the Division II state title in 2017, ended the two-day tournament with 713 strokes. Lima Central Catholic won the team championship with 630 strokes, Tuscarawas Valley was second with 683 and Laurel was third with 689. Columbus School for Girls placed fourth with 694 strokes.
Morgan Pascarella closed out her career with an 11th place finish as an individual. She shot 83 on Friday and closed the tournament with a 75 on Saturday. She was the fifth scorer on Independence’s state title team four years ago.
Allie Ksiazka also placed among the top 20 as she shot a 169 to finish in 20th place. Molly McGreal carded a 189 for the Blue Devils and Reese Vilcheck closed out the scoring with a 197. Emma Konopa also competed for Independence and finished with a 204.
Hawken sophomore Ella Wong placed at state for the second straight season.
Wong finished eighth with a 151.
She shot a 76 on Friday and closed out the tournament with a 75 on Saturday.
