Three from CVC qualify for state tennis tournament

West Geauga’s Rylie Hanford and Orange’s Blessing Nwaozuzu and Alexis Nyborg all punched their ticket to the 2019 OHSAA state tennis tournament.

Hanford finished second at the Northeast District Tournament while Nwaozuzu defeated Nyborg in the third-place match.

Both Hanford and Nwaozuzu are making return trips to the state tournament. Hanford beat Nwaozuzuz last fall for third place while Nwaozuzu also qualified for state in 2017.

Hanford dropped her district championship match to Gilmour’s Carly Cohen, 6-3, 6-1, and Nwaozuzu downed Nyborg, 6-4, 6-3, for third.

State brackets have not yet been drawn.
