Wolverines rally for win over Tigers

CHAGRIN FALLS—A 16-3 third-quarter run was the difference for West Geauga in a 39-35 win over host Chagrin Falls in a key Chagrin Valley Conference game on Wednesday.

The host Tigers led at halftime, 19-14, before the Wolverines dominated the third quarter to take a 30-22 lead into the final eight minutes of play.

Nikki Ehrbar, who led the Wolverines with a game-high 15 points, fueled that third-quarter run with a pair of 3-pointers.

She added another 3 in the fourth quarter to hold off the Tigers, who made one final run by outscoring the Wolverines 13-9 down the stretch.

Athena Hocevar and Grace Wolfe both finished with nine points for the Wolverines, who remain in sole possession of first place in the CVC Chagrin Division with a 7-0 record overall and 4-0 in league play.

Bella Dalessandro scored five of her team-high nine points and Carolyn Bencko scored all seven of hers in the first half to help the Tigers build an early lead.

Chagrin Falls dropped to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
