Bean leads Huskies to win in first start

MIDDLEFIELD—Cardinal freshman Jake Bean made the most of his first career start as he scored a game-high 13 points in a 45-41 win over visiting Trinity on Friday.

Bean drained a 3-pointer in the first quarter and added a bucket in the second. His two third-quarter 3s helped the Huskies to battle back from a 24-17 halftime deficit.

Cardinal took the lead in the fourth quarter and held off the Trojans down the stretch.

Robbie Granny and Casey Horner each scored seven points for the Huskies in the win. Horner converted on 7-of-8 free throw tries in the fourth quarter.

Ian Anderson led Trinity with 12 points, Kirk Colvin added 10 and Zion Owens finished with eight.

Haley Adams is a 2016 graduate of Cardinal High School. She is currently in her third year at Hiram College with a major in Communications and a minor in Writing. Haley, a three-sport standout at Cardinal, has participated in many athletic events at Hiram and plans to become a sports broadcaster.
