CVC Girls Tennis District Pairings

Three individuals and two doubles teams from the Chagrin Valley Conference finished among the top four at last week’s sectional tournament and will compete at the district championships this week.

Sectional champion Blessing Nwaozuzu of Orange earned one of the district tournament’s four top seeds and will open district play against Fairview’s Lauryn Leslie.

West Geauga’s Rylie Hanford placed second to Nwaozuzu at sectionals and will see Hathaway Brown’s Alice Lin in the first round at districts. Orange’s Alexis Nyborg also advanced from the sectional tournament and will play Lakeview’s Laura Garvin in the first round at districts. Garvin won the Boardman sectional tournament.

The doubles teams include Hawken’s Ellie Faber and Sammi Fremont, who will play Manchester’s Emily Le and Brooke Esterle in the first round, and Beachwood’s Anna Owens and Emily Fan, who will compete against Hathaway Brown’s Brigette Fuentes and Melissa Kazacic in the opening round.

The district tournament begins on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Springside Racquet & Fitness Club in Akron.
