CVC golfers compete in showcase

On Monday, a handful of Chagrin Valley Conference golfers competed in the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation High School Showcase at Avon Oaks Golf Course.

Hawken’s Ella Wong, the defending Division II state champion was the league’s top finisher as she placed third with a 71.

Wong recorded five birdies, the second most in the tournament.

Independence had a host of golfers at the event.

Molly McGreal was the school’s top finisher. She placed tied for 11th with a score of 80. Emma Konopa and Isabel Trombetta also finished among the top 30. Konopa carded an 85 to finish 22nd while Trombetta finished 30th with an 87.

Kate Coljohn (93), Adriann Buyansky (95), and Macey McGhee (95) also competed.

Perry’s Addy Trefzger placed 60th with a 99.

The CVC preseason golf tournament is scheduled for Aug. 8.
