CVC runners open season at Early Bird

BURTON—Several Chagrin Valley Conference cross country teams opened their season at the 2020 Berkshire Early Bird Invitational on Saturday at the Geauga County Fairgrounds.

Independence’s boys’ team finished second overall while Crestwood’s girls’ also took home a runner-up finish.

Kirtland junior Reilly Greenlee won the girls’ race with a time of 22:32.

CVC runners finishing among the top 30 in the boys’ race included Berkshire’s Lucas Leggett (12th, 19:50), Jackson Hare (18th, 20:29), Jarrett Long (27th, 21:36) and Sam Chrzan (30th, 21:43), Grand Valley’s David Steimle (3rd, 18:31), Crestwood’s Johnny Peters (4th, 18:39), Bryce Pruszynski (16th, 20:24) and Robert Greenwood (25th, 21:22), Cuyahoga Heights’ Nate Menkhaus (24th, 21:12), Independence’s P.J. Oschmann (6th, 19:01), Kyle McGovern (13th, 19:52), Collin Patton (19th, 20:47) and Joey Jimasek (28th, 21:39), Kirtland’s Ian McGreal (10th, 19:36), Jonny Jackson (14th, 20:04) and Josh Wolfe (26th, 21:24), and Lakeside’s Joey Varckette (22nd, 20:52).

Along with Greenlee, the following CVC runners finished among the top 30 girls:

Berkshire’s Maitland Fuentes (25th, 27:19); Crestwood’s Elaine Guyette (3rd, 23:03), Ava Mory (9th, 24:32), Hannah Herron (10th, 24:41) and EmilyJo Jaeger (19th, 26:02); Independence’s Alana Nowak (4th, 23:38); Kirtland’s Julie Namciu (13th, 25:20), Delaney Kuczkowski (17th, 25:41), Stephanie Drazetic (22nd, 26:34), Jessy Jackson (26th, 27:29), Josie Copeland (27th, 27:34) and Aria Ray (29th, 27:56); and Lakeside’s Athena Pantoja (2nd, 22:52) and Tiffany Stright (18th, 25:54).
