Geneva boys win CVC Chagrin Division title

BURTON–Geneva placed four runners among the top 10 in winning the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division title at the league meet on Saturday at the Geauga County Fairgrounds.

The Eagles scored 39 points while West Geauga finished second with 51 and Edgewood rounded out the top three with 91.

Senior Jacob Mirabell became the second straight Geneva runner to win the individual title as he placed first with a time of 17:13. Teammates Zachary Reese, Alex Reese and Dakota Harvey joined Mirabell on the All-CVC first-team by finishing among the top eight. Zachary Reese placed sixth in 17:36, Alex Reese was seventh in 17:39 and Harvey finished eights with a time of 17:41.

West Geauga landed a pair of runners on the all-league first team. Patrick Garrett finished second (17:22) and John Patterson was fourth (17:32). Harvey’s J.T. Basco (3rd, 17:30) and Lakeside’s Jayvon Riddle (5th, 17:33) also earned first-team honors.

Second-team runners included Hawken’s David Hamilton (9th, 17:45), West Geauga’s Kenneth Kirk (10th, 17:53) and Chris Whiting (16th, 18:23), Edgewood’s Griffin Obermiyer (11th, 17:56), Joey Jafarace (13th, 18:09) and Granison Hill (15th, 18:16), Beachwood’s Gregory Perryman (12th, 18:03) and Lakeside’s Colton Hampton (14th, 18:13).
