Lutheran West earns draw at Cuyahoga Heights

Lutheran West and host Cuyahoga Heights spent 80 minutes trying to break a scoreless tie. Neither team succeeded as the final score ended up 0-0.

“This is the best soccer I’ve seen out of our program in quite some time,” Lutheran West coach Josh Campbell said. “I’m extremely proud to be a part of what I witnessed tonight as these athletes represent God and our school to the best of our abilities. It’s scary how much this team as grown technically and tactically in the last month.”

Cuyahoga Heights outshot Lutheran West, 13-5.

Lutheran West’s Angelina Klopp recorded four saves in the game. She was aided by a stout defense consisting of Julie Klopp, Kaye Zielinski, Elena Calleri, Dana Quayle and Lo Zielinski. Kelly Owens anchored the defense and distributed the ball into the midfield.

The Longhorns travel to Firelands on Sept. 9 while Cuyahoga Heights hosts Chardon on Saturday.
