Spartans win district title

Gbolahan Adio scored a game-high 18 points and three others scored in double figures to lead Richmond Heights to a 78-66 win over Open Door Academy in a Division IV district championship game on Friday at Norton High School.

Open Door drained four 3-pointers in building a 22-14 lead but the Spartans outscored the Patriots in the second quarter, 23-10, to take a 37-32 lead into the break.

Richmond Heights outscored Open Door in the second half, 51-34, to seal their regional tournament berth.

Curtis Houston contributed to the win with 16 points and Jamarr Talbert and B.J. Carter both added 14 points for the Spartans, who improved to 19-6.

Richmond Heights will play Bristol in a regional semifinal in Canton on March 12.
