Grand Valley’s David Steimle and Geneva’s Mya Evangelista outran the pack to win individual titles at the 2022 War on the Shore at Lakeshore Park on Monday.
Steimle won the boys’ race with a time of 18:03, 33 seconds ahead of second-place Alex Kolhoff from Madison.
Other boys from the Chagrin Valley Conference who finished among the Top 20 included Edgewood’s Granison Hill, who placed third in 19:01, Adam Hamilton (10th, 20:21), and Braylon Wetherbee (16th, 21:12); Geneva’s Donald Shymske (4th, 19:03) and Luke McKinney (12th, 20:34); Cardinal’s Samuel Gdovichin (9th, 20:18); and Grand Valley’s Ethan Hughes (20th,” 21:26).
Geneva led the CVC contingent with a fourth-place finish and Edgewood was fifth.
Evangelista won the girls’ race in 21:53 pacing the Eagles to a second-place finish as a team.s
Other CVC runners who placed among the Top 20 included Grand Valley’s Anna Steimle, who finished second in 22:44; Edgewood’s Tammy Liplin (3rd, 22:51) and Maddie Crooks (6th, 23:31); Geneva’s Grace Dubsky (4th, 22:58) and Maggie Moon (13th, 25:31); and Cardinal’s Lily Ayer (8th, 24:31).
